I did this to the latest and last for my card. XP will re-boot normally and run OK. I can use Chrome or Opera with many tabs open and no problems. They told me to switch off hardware acceleration in Firefox. It still crashes. I have un-installed Fire fox I read on the Mozilla forum that Firefox 52 — 53 had this crash problem with many tabs open. Fixed in I will try your about:config settings and see if it helps. It is true that hardware acceleration is potentially dangerous on Windows XP.
You have to force-enable it to even get it to work. So your crashes should be related to something else? Each with web content tied to the work done on that specific desktop. Please take care with e10s multiprocessing on XP though. Most browser extensions still working on FF 5x.
